Fifty-cent Memories

Walks to the country store, whirling automobiles zooming by. . . bike rides favored, fifty cents all my own in tow. Huge dill pickles, pickled-pigs feet, Now-n-Later candy squares, green-apple my favorite and wild-watermelon runner-up.

Don’t forget the cinnamon rolls crowned with thick layers of white icing. Yes, I need two dollar’s-worth of freshly cut bologna, not ham, too costly. Grandma says, “Mo’ pound for your money with bologna.”
